Protect yourself from the cold on vacation: equipment not to forget
Before leaving for your next vacation destination, make sure to find out what the weather forecast is. Therefore, pack clothing and accessories in your suitcase suited to the forecast temperatures! This is what you should put in your suitcase:
Thermal clothing
There are now so-called thermal clothing, which are effective in helping you retain your body heat. By placing these clothes under your different layers, you will be able to effectively fight against the cold. These lightweight clothes won’t take up any space in your suitcase, and yet they could be very beneficial in keeping you warm!

Warm sweaters
In addition to thermal clothing, equip yourself with warm sweaters. If you are very cold, all you have to do is cover up to reduce this feeling. I recommend a merino sweater for the weight/size ratio, but if it is light, the price is much higher.
Scarf, gloves and hat
During your outings in the cold, you certainly won’t be able to do without your gloves, your scarf and your hat. Keep them with you, or slip them into your belongings! These are essential accessories. Choose warm materials to keep the heat on you.
A thick coat
You will also need to take a thick coat with you. Of course, its thickness will depend on where you want to go. Your coat will be your companion during the day, so you’ll need to make sure it keeps you warm. Or failing that, a coat that can be heated.
A waterproof windbreaker
While a thick coat can be helpful in keeping you warm, you should also invest in a windbreaker. As its name suggests, it will be effective in protecting you from the wind, which could get everywhere under your clothes if you are not well equipped. This windbreaker will generally not take up space in your belongings, and you will be able to slip it into your belongings without any problem!
A pocket hot water bottle
This little accessory could be of great help to you during the coldest days. This hot water bottle can be placed in your pocket, so that your hands can stay warm at all times. What’s better than not feeling the cold? You can also use it to warm the sheets on your bed before going to bed.

Suitable shoes
Also remember to wear shoes suitable for the place you plan to go to. They should be waterproof, and you should be able to wear thick socks under them! If you have to walk, they should also remain comfortable in all situations.
You shouldn’t get sick while traveling!
Of course, you don’t necessarily need to buy all of this equipment absolutely. It will depend on where you are going, for how long, at what time etc. But if you intend to travel to a very cold country, or in winter, or do activities where you are exposed to low temperatures, then it is preferable.
Concerning myself, I always have at the bottom of my bag, in a compression bag, my equipment against the cold, and if sometimes I regret having it because it weighs a little, others, I am delighted with it. I’m thinking in particular of the times in Guatemala or Ecuador, where I climbed volcanoes (even in the middle of summer) and where it was very cold!!
And you, what travel accessories do you take for the cold? What are the essentials, the best and the ones that you find useless?
