Foldable Smartphone: The perfect combo for travelers?

If you follow digital news, but especially that of mobile phones, you will undoubtedly have seen articles on the subject of foldable smartphones. Yes, yes, you read correctly, phones that fold in two or even in three for the latest from Xiaomi!

Basically, I didn’t find any great interest in it, in fact I found it rather ridiculous.. But when I thought about it I still found an interest in it or rather an audience!

Why choose a foldable smartphone when traveling?

If you travel often, or rather are interested in traveling, you have already wondered what the best solution is when it comes to immortalizing these magnificent moments.

Take a camera, a camera, a phone, a tablet etc. The foldable smartphone meets all these needs!

Once unfolded, it is the size of a tablet, and therefore can act as an e-reader or even a screen for watching films. Component level, it takes with it the best, and therefore, on the video/photo camera side we can expect crazy quality!

What is the biggest disadvantage of foldable smartphones?

As a traveler, there are pretty much only advantages other than the weight. It must be said that a foldable smartphone, being larger, will weigh much heavier. And so our friends traveling light will not appreciate it..

As an average consumer, the biggest problem is its price! The big brands that are launching into foldable smartphones, such as LG, Xiaomi, Samsung, Royole and Apple, are announcing bloodcurdling prices.

You will have to pay no less than €1,200 for such a phone. This is an astronomical sum, which would allow many travelers to afford a few plane tickets, hotel nights or something else.

Perfect combo or illusion?

Obviously a smartphone, whether folding or not, will never replace a real video camera or a real photo camera.

However, it may prove to be a good compromise when prices have dropped a little. It’s very recent, it just came out, and so the prices are honestly too expensive.

But when the success of these foldable smartphones has subsided, I think we will be able to find them at reasonable prices, especially from Chinese brands!

Finally, and finally, they will be really perfect for travelers when they are waterproof, shockproof, scratch-resistant, dual sim, etc. etc. Like a real traveler’s phone! ^^
