Air Travel: The best accessories to take in the cabin

Best airplane travel accessories: What to take in the cabin?

In my previous article I told you what I took with me in my backpack for the day. This time I’m going to tell you about the journey, and in particular by plane. Because a lot of people don’t really know what to take for a plane trip.

Like last time, there will be the essential items, and those that are less so. As a reminder, this is my opinion, and not everyone has or will not necessarily have the same opinions, because they do not have the same needs or desires! 🙂

Be careful what you take!

I say it again and again, be careful what you take. Whether in terms of bag or content. Customs and airport security are strict and you are not allowed to take whatever you want. Just like airlines are too, and you will need to pay attention to the size and weight of your cabin baggage. I had already written articles on the subject which I invite you to consult here, here, or here.

The essentials: objects, accessories and gadgets to take on the plane!

For small internal flights, this article will not be of much use, I am talking above all about long journeys, known as long hauls. Because spending long hours in your seat without moving is boring and not very comfortable, especially if you don’t think about taking what you need for your comfort and entertainment! The following items are what I take on almost all my plane trips:

My external battery:

Because some airlines and planes do not have USB sockets, but above all because I cannot put it in the hold, it is prohibited, I take my backup battery with me ! ^^

My earphones :

I always take headphones, Or headphones, it doesn’t matter, it’s whatever you prefer. Whether for my smartphone, the seat screen or my MP3 player!

My MP3:

And yes, I’m an old man, I don’t listen to music on my phone, but on a good old mp3 player. So, on a plane, well, I always take it with me.

My water bottle:

I always take my filter bottle in my little backpack, even on the plane. To always have something to drink, it’s important! However, remember to empty it before going through customs, then of course refill it before boarding.

My toothbrush + toothpaste:

Clearly an essential for long flights! A little refreshment just before arriving or on the way down still feels good. so I always take my toothbrush and toothpaste, all in travel size as usual.

My belt or pouch:

I always take my belt or my travel pouch. If it is not useful on the plane, it is useful for boarding, since I have my passport, my plane tickets, etc. in it.

My mask + earplugs:

Of course, just to rest a little, I take my sleeping mask and my earplugs. I think you know the principle! An eye mask is another simple accessory that can make a big difference during a flight. Whether you’re trying to catch up on sleep or just want to relax, an eye mask can help block out light and distractions. Plus, it’s a great way to let your traveling companions know that you’d rather not be disturbed!

My inflatable cushion:

In the same way as the two previous objects, I take with me a inflatable pillow, or rather neck cushion. Just to keep me well positioned and not have neck or cervical pain. Let’s be honest: trying to sleep on a plane is often more difficult than it needs to be. Between the cramped conditions and the background noise, it can be difficult to fall asleep, even for a few minutes. This is where the neck pillow comes in. A good neck pillow supports the head and neck, allowing you to doze off without worrying about waking up with a stiff neck. It’s a small investment that can help make your flight more bearable.

My smartphone:

Of course, I always have with me my smartphone, which allows me to play in particular, but for some to watch videos, read etc.. Entertainment indeed! This can be a reading light or a tablet or even the computer too.

Plug adapter :

If on the plane I can often charge with my external battery as mentioned above or direct USB, in the airport I prefer my universal plug adapter ! That way, I can tune in peacefully. 🙂 Also think about the cable and the usb power strip if you want to load everything at once.

interesting and essential objects, accessories and gadgets in the airplane cabin

Optional items: interesting objects, accessories and gadgets in the cabin!

Here, it really depends on you, and your ability to tolerate long flights, or flying in general:

Compression socks:

Or support stockings, which I now carry. Because I don’t know if it’s age or what, but more and more when I take a plane now, my legs and feet swell.. I don’t take a plane.compression stockings on the other hand eh! I’m not there yet! ^^

A jacket :

Not all flights and companies necessarily offer coverage, so I always take a jacket. Because when we sleep, the body cools down, and once again I don’t know if it’s age, but I’m cold!

The bottle kit:

I now take more and more spare clothes (t-shirt, underwear and socks) and a small travel bottle kit. Just to still have something to change and clean if my luggage gets lost.. And since I’ve been traveling it’s already happened 4 times! So I’m planning ahead now.. ^^

Bracelet against motion sickness:

So it’s not in my bag, but on my wrist. But I stipulate it because I always take it on the plane to avoid motion sickness, age I tell you!

Entertainment :

Whether you prefer to read books, listen to music, or watch movies, it’s always a good idea to have some form of entertainment with you during the plane trip. If you’re trying to save space in your carry-on, there are many lightweight and compact options, like e-readers and small portable speakers. And don’t forget your charging cord! There’s nothing worse than finding yourself in the middle of a movie and seeing your battery die

My computer :

Not out of utility, because I never use it during the flight, but more out of obligation, I have my travel laptop. I once happened to use it on a flight course.

Board games:

Optional too, but if I know that I will spend the plane trip next to my friends, I take a board game again just to pass the time, but I rarely use it and more so once I arrive! 🙂

Noise canceling headphones:

If you’re trying to work or watch a movie during your flight, chances are you’ll want to block out some of the ambient noise. Noise-canceling headphones are ideal for this purpose. With Active Noise Reduction (ANR) technology, these headphones eliminate unwanted sounds, allowing you to focus on what you’re doing. Don’t forget to bring the batteries, as most models don’t work without them!
